Adding More Power...

Separating your layout into several independent power circuits greatly improves its reliability and expansion potential, while also making it safer and easier to troubleshoot when necessary. You can divide your layout based on power consumption, type of operations (trains or accessories), or a combination of both. Each circuit then receives power from its own digital booster and transformer. Certain accessories such as turnout lanterns, signal lamps and lighting can be directly powered by a standard 16VAC accessory transformer instead of digital power.

At MZE, we recommend running all of your digital accessory decoders on a separate circuit from train operations. A dedicated accessory booster provides more reliable operation since it is not burdened by the electrical load of multiple trains, and can devote its full power to supplying the large switching currents required by accessories. The Power 2 is ideal as a digital accessory booster or for powering a lower capacity train circuit (2-3 trains). The high-output Power 3 is intended for powering 4-5 trains, and can be easily connected to other Power 3 or Märklin boosters to form multiple power blocks on large layouts. Please see the descriptions and online manuals listed below for more information on MZE's power products. You can also learn more about boosters and expanding your layout's digital power in our "How-To" articles.
